Psychosocial: New communication strategies for the bleeding disorders community | Virtual Summit 2020

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In this session from the WFH 2020 Virtual Summit, Ed Kuebler, Silvina Grana, Diane Standish, David Silva & Patricia Cabre will explore challenges that affect communication between Hemophilia Treatment Centre (HTC) team members and the patients and families whom they serve.

Providers want their patients to understand, but sometimes, it seems that the message does not get across effectively. These experiences can be frustrating and, in some cases, can result in strained relationships between patients and providers. In this session, the speakers will discuss common communication barriers and ask participants to identify situations that they personally have found difficult or frustrating. By the end of the session, participants will have specified one or two communication skills that they want to utilize or improve and will identify resources to assist in this process.

The WFH does not engage in the practice of medicine and under no circumstances recommends particular treatment for specific individuals. For diagnosis or consultation on a specific medical problem, the WFH recommends that you contact your physician or local treatment centre. Before administering any products, the WFH urges patients to check dosages with a physician or hemophilia centre staff, and to consult the pharmaceutical company’s printed instructions.

The WFH does not promote any particular pharmaceutical product and any mention of any commercial brand in this presentation is strictly for educational purposes.
